This letter is in response to the Grand Jury's Interim Final Report entitled "Boards and Commissions" and the following Finding and Recommendation:

"FINDING 7: An organization chart or matrix would help to clarify the function of each board or commission and its relationship to governmental structure. Such a chart or matrix would also identify redundancy or an unmet need."

"RECOMMENDATION 7: Administrators should develop an organization chart or matrix to clarify the function of each board and commission and to identify the community need being filled."

On July 15, 1997, the Lompoc City Council considered the Grand Jury's Finding #7 and Recommendation #7. The City agrees with Finding 7 and submits the attached in response to your Recommendation #7. Most of this information can be found in the Handbook for Commissions, Committee and Board Members sent to you in April. The attachment, however, provides a summary of the functions of each Commission, Committee and Board and the department or division assigned to assist them.
